Creating and distributing sheet music for cover songs is a long and legally complex process. Every person in any way associated with the final product (from the songwriter of the original song to the layout designer of the actual sheets) owns a part of the copyright, meaning that my freedom of distributing files whatever way I want (sending by e-mail, sharing with Dropbox, selling on my own website etc.) is very limited. MusicNotes helps me by taking control of the sales and making sure that the right persons get the right share of the revenue from every sold copy.
